The K&N Engineering 63-8003 Elevated Intake Kit is a fender-mounted snorkel for the 2024-2026 Toyota Tacoma with the L4-2.4L turbo engine and the 2026 Toyota 4Runner, and it is a snorkel assembly only: K&N Engineering states it must be used with the K&N Engineering 63-9043 intake system, which is sold separately.

On the fourth-generation Tacoma the factory air pickup sits low in the passenger-side inner fender - exactly where dust hangs on a washboard road. The 63-8003 carries that pickup up the A-pillar to roof height instead. It is a body-modification kit, not a bolt-on: the instruction sheet has you open four 3/8 in and three 1/2 in mounting holes and cut a 4 in pass-through with a hole saw in the passenger-side fender, then deburr and paint the bare edges. K&N Engineering recommends a professional installer if that work is outside your comfort zone.

Key Benefits

  • Relocates the intake pickup out of the inner fender and up to the top of the passenger-side A-pillar.
  • Capped by a K&N Engineering snorkel top with an integrated grill, clamped on with a #72 hose clamp.
  • Braced at two points - seven M6 studs through the fender plus a dedicated A-pillar mount bracket on double-sided tape.
  • Rubber sealing washers sit behind the large fender washers at every stud, so the drilled fender is sealed at the fastener line.
  • Ships with a factory fresh-air block-off and a K&N airbox lid block-off, so in extreme conditions all intake air can be forced through the snorkel.
  • Complete hardware pack - studs, nylock nuts, fender washers, grommets, screw grommets and two hose clamps are all in the box.
  • Engineered as a matched pair with the K&N Engineering 63-9043 intake; K&N Engineering states the snorkel will not bolt to the stock system or to any other manufacturer's intake.

Fitment

K&N Engineering lists the 63-8003 for the 2024-2026 Toyota Tacoma with the L4-2.4L turbo engine and for the 2026 Toyota 4Runner. Because the kit is a snorkel only, it can be run solely in combination with the K&N Engineering 63-9043 intake system, and K&N Engineering states that 63-9043 will not fit the 2024-2026 Tacoma TRD Pro or the 2025-2026 4Runner TRD Pro - so the snorkel does not fit a TRD Pro either. It does not fit a vehicle with a body lift, and it does not bolt to the factory airbox or to any other brand's intake. K&N Engineering also states that the kit does not increase the manufacturer's suggested water fording limit for the vehicle,. K&N Engineering names only the 2.4L turbo engine and the TRD Pro exclusion on this application; it publishes no i-FORCE MAX hybrid, cab, bed or transmission restriction. Do not confuse the two part numbers: 63-9043 is the intake system itself - airbox, tube, dry filter and MAF adapter - and is the required companion, while 63-8003 adds only the elevated snorkel stack that feeds it. No CARB Executive Order was found for 63-8003, so this part is not legal for sale or use in California or other states that have adopted California emission standards.

FAQ

Does the K&N 63-8003 snorkel include the intake system?

No. K&N Engineering's instruction sheet states that K&N intake system 63-9043 must be used and is sold separately, and that this snorkel will not bolt up to the stock system or any other manufacturer's intake.

Does installing 63-8003 require cutting the fender?

Yes. K&N Engineering's instructions direct you to drill eight 3/16 in pilot holes, open four 3/8 in and three 1/2 in mounting holes, and cut one 4 in pass-through hole in the passenger-side fender with a hole saw, then deburr and paint the bare metal.

Does the K&N 63-8003 fit a Tacoma TRD Pro?

No. The snorkel requires K&N intake 63-9043, and K&N Engineering states that 63-9043 will not fit the 2024-2026 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro or the 2025-2026 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro.

Is the K&N 63-8003 CARB legal in California?

No CARB Executive Order was found for this part number, so it is not legal for sale or use in California or in other states that have adopted California emission standards.
