The Hertz HMX 6.5 S is a two-way 165 mm (6.5 in) coaxial speaker built for powersports and marine use, rated 75 W continuous and 150 W peak at 4 ohm, and optimised to perform in infinite baffle - which is what a UTV door, a roll-cage pod or a boat panel actually is.

Fitment

The HMX 6.5 S is a universal 6.5 inch coaxial speaker, not a vehicle-specific part, and it suits any 12 V system - side-by-sides, UTVs, ATVs, trucks, Jeeps and boats. Fitment is a question of hole size and depth rather than make and model: the frame measures 172.2 mm (6.78 in) across, it needs a 125 mm (4.92 in) cutout, and it requires 95.6 mm (3.76 in) of mounting depth. That depth figure is the one that decides most installs, so measure behind the panel before ordering.

Impedance is 4 ohm, continuous power handling is 75 W and peak is 150 W, so pair it with an amplifier channel in that range rather than assuming the peak figure. On a four-channel amplifier such as the Hertz HCP 4M or HCP 4D, a pair sits comfortably within the per-channel rating.

The model number distinguishes it from its lit sibling. The HMX 6.5 S has no lighting; the HMX 6.5 S-LD is the same driver with integrated RGB LED lighting, which is driven by the separately sold Hertz HM RGB 1 BK controller. Choose the plain S if you do not want lighting in the pod or door.
