Hertz HDP1 Digital Power Series Mono Block Amp

The Hertz HDP1 is a mono Class-D subwoofer amplifier from the Hertz Digital Power series, rated 600 W RMS at 4 ohm and 1000 W RMS at 2 ohm, and it takes signal from either a factory radio through its high-level Speaker-In inputs or an aftermarket source through its RCA Pre-In inputs.

Fitment

The HDP1 is a universal 12-volt amplifier, not a vehicle-specific part. It runs on any negative-ground system between 11 and 15 VDC, which covers cars, trucks, SUVs and UTVs. Input flexibility is the practical fitment question: Speaker-In accepts 1.4 to 24 V RMS straight off factory speaker wiring, and RCA Pre-In accepts 0.3 to 5 V RMS, so it drops into a stock system or an aftermarket one without an adapter.

Size the electrical system to the published draw. The HDP1 carries three 40 A on-board fuses and pulls up to 60 A at 2 ohm on maximum musical power at 14.4 VDC, so the battery feed, ground and in-line fuse have to be rated for that. Minimum load is 2 ohm; the amplifier is specified for 4 to 2 ohm operation and should not be run below 2 ohm. Allow room for a 13.54 x 6.73 in chassis with a 1.83 in profile.

Within the Hertz line, the HDP1 is the mono subwoofer member of the Digital Power series and the HDP4 is the four-channel model on the same platform. The Compact Power HCP 1D and HCP 1DK are the shorter-chassis mono alternatives. Hertz publishes no IP or salt-fog rating for the HDP1, so it belongs in a dry, protected mounting location.
