The HCP 4DK is a universal 12-volt amplifier rather than a vehicle-specific part. It runs on any negative-ground system between 11 and 15 VDC, which covers cars, trucks, SUVs and side-by-sides, and its dual input types mean it works behind a factory radio or an aftermarket deck without an adapter.

Minimum load depends on the mode: 2 ohm per channel in four-channel operation, 2 ohm plus 2 ohm plus 4 ohm in three-channel operation, and 4 ohm bridged. Electrically this is the demanding model in the family - two 35 A on-board fuses and up to 40 A consumption at 2 ohm and 14.4 VDC - so the battery lead, ground and in-line fuse must be sized for that current, not for a small four-channel amplifier.

The K in the model number is what separates this from the standard HCP 4D. Hertz does not publish an expansion of the letter, but the documented difference is unambiguous: the HCP 4D is 75 W x 4 at 4 ohm and 1160 W total on an 8.46 in chassis with two 20 A fuses, while this HCP 4DK is 120 W x 4 at 4 ohm and 2000 W total on a 12.40 in chassis with two 35 A fuses. The DK models are the higher-power members of the Compact Power family, and the same pattern holds between the mono HCP 1D and HCP 1DK. Hertz publishes no IP or salt-fog rating for the HCP 4DK, so mount it in a dry, protected location; the marine-rated four-channel model is the HCP 4M.
