Key Features

  • 3-way coaxial: 32 mm Tetolon tweeter + 24 mm Tetolon supertweeter, both neodymium
  • 120 W RMS / 360 W peak power handling per speaker at 4 ohms
  • 94 dB sensitivity and 35 Hz - 24 kHz response - strong bass from a 6x9 oval format
  • Supertweeter and FEM-optimized faceplate preserve highs in horizontal rear-deck installs
  • Radial Venting System keeps voice-coil temperatures low under load
  • Water-repellent pressed-paper cone with wide rubber surround for long excursion
  • Grilles included (ABS frame + metal mesh); sold as a pair

The Hertz CPX 690 is a Cento Pro line 6x9-inch 3-way coaxial car speaker rated 120 W RMS and 360 W peak power handling at 4 ohms, sold as a pair with grilles included. It is a universal 12V upgrade for any vehicle with 6x9 (6 x 9 in.) oval speaker openings - typically rear decks and rear doors - with no vehicle-specific fitment.

Each speaker stacks a 32 mm Tetolon dome tweeter and a 24 mm Tetolon supertweeter, both on neodymium magnets, over a water-repellent pressed-paper woofer cone with a 30 mm voice coil. The supertweeter compensates for the natural high-frequency roll-off of horizontal rear-deck installations, and the FEM-optimized tweeter faceplate keeps response linear off-axis. With 94 dB sensitivity and a frequency response reaching down to 35 Hz, the CPX 690 delivers strong low-end output even without a subwoofer.

Compatibility

The CPX 690 is a universal 12V coaxial speaker for standard 6x9-inch oval openings with about 225 mm (8.86 in.) of cutout length and at least 85 mm (3.35 in.) of mounting depth. The tweeter stack rises above the mounting plane, so allow roughly 28 mm of clearance under the factory grille or use the included Hertz grilles. The 4-ohm load works with factory and aftermarket head units and amplifiers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the Hertz CPX 690 fit my 6x9 speaker openings?

Yes. It is a standard 6x9-inch oval format with a 225 mm (8.86 in.) cutout and 85 mm (3.35 in.) mounting depth; check that your rear deck or door has that depth available plus about 28 mm of clearance above the mounting plane for the tweeter stack.

Do I need an amplifier for the CPX 690?

No - it is a passive 4-ohm speaker with high 94 dB sensitivity, so it plays loud even on head-unit power. To use its full 120 W RMS power handling, pair it with an amplifier rated up to about 120 W RMS per channel at 4 ohms.

Are grilles included with the CPX 690?

Yes. Each pair includes Hertz grilles with a high-resistance ABS frame and protective metal mesh - unlike the round CPX 165, whose grilles are sold separately.

What is the difference between the Hertz CPX 690 and CPX 165?

The CPX 690 is the 6x9-inch oval 3-way coax (tweeter plus supertweeter, grilles included) built for rear-deck and rear-door openings; the CPX 165 is the round 6.5-inch 2-way coax for standard door locations.
