Extang's Solid Fold ALX in part number 88486 is the hard tri-fold tonneau for the Super Duty short box on 2017-2026 Ford F-250 and F-350 pickups - the bed Extang lists as 6 ft. 9 in. on its own site and 6 ft. 10 in. (81.9 in.) on its Amazon listing. It is a working cover on a working truck: three panels, a 600 lb. distributed rating, and a frame built to be walked around rather than babied.

The Super Duty is a long-service platform, and Extang's span for this part reflects that. Ford put the current Super Duty body on the road for 2017 and refreshed it for 2023 without changing the box, and 88486 carries straight across both, from 2017 through the current 2026 model year. What it does not carry across is chassis cab territory - Extang lists F-250 and F-350 for this part and stops there.

Key Benefits

  • Rated to 600 lb. spread evenly across the closed cover - lumber, a bike, a load of tools on top of a covered bed
  • EnduraShield panels are a full inch thick and shrug off dents, scratches and UV-driven fading
  • Rotary release latch works with one hand: twist, lift, and it re-latches on its own when the panel comes back down
  • Ships assembled, so the job is under five minutes rather than an afternoon
  • Spans the 2017 body and the 2023 refresh under one part number
  • Limited 5-year warranty, assembled in Michigan

Fitment

88486 fits the short box on 2017-2026 Ford F-250 Super Duty and F-350 Super Duty. Extang names those two models only. Does not fit the F-450 or F-550 - those are chassis cab and cab-and-chassis trucks and Extang does not list them for this part, so treat any retailer table that lumps "F-250/350/450/550" together as a copy-paste artefact rather than a fitment claim. Bed length remains the buying gate: the Super Duty long box is a different part number.

  • 2017-2026 Ford F-350 Super Duty, short box

FAQ

Does 88486 fit an F-450?

No. Extang publishes this part for the F-250 and F-350 Super Duty only. The F-450 and F-550 are chassis cab trucks and are not on Extang's application for 88486.

Is my Super Duty bed 6 ft. 9 in. or 6 ft. 10 in.?

Both numbers describe the same Super Duty short box; Extang publishes 6 ft. 9 in. on its own product page and 6 ft. 10 in. (81.9 in.) on its Amazon listing. If your Super Duty has the short box rather than the 8 ft. long box, 88486 is the right length.

Does it fit the 2023 and newer refreshed Super Duty?

Yes. Extang lists 88486 through the 2026 model year, so the 2023 refresh and the trucks that followed it use the same cover as the 2017-2022 body.

How much does the cover hold?

Up to 600 lb. of evenly distributed weight on the closed cover. That figure assumes the load is spread across the panels, not concentrated on one spot.
