The Diamond Audio HX1200.5 is a HEX Series five-channel full-range Class D amplifier that powers a complete four-speaker system and a subwoofer from one chassis, rated at 100 watts RMS x 4 plus 480 watts RMS x 1 into 4 ohms, or 150 watts RMS x 4 plus 800 watts RMS x 1 into 2 ohms, for 12-volt car, truck and UTV audio builds.

Fitment

This is a universal 12-volt amplifier, not a vehicle-specific part. It fits any car, truck, Jeep or side-by-side build with room for the 14.25 x 7.67 x 2 inch chassis and power and ground wiring sized for its 120 amps of on-board ATC fusing (three 40-amp fuses). It runs on 10.0 to 17.0 volts DC and draws 0.7 amps at idle.

Match it to the load, not the vehicle. Four-ohm speakers on channels 1 to 4 get 100 watts RMS each and 2-ohm speakers get 150 watts RMS each; the subwoofer channel makes 480 watts RMS into 4 ohms and 800 watts RMS into 2 ohms, so a dual-4-ohm subwoofer wired in parallel is the natural pairing for full output.

Do not confuse it with its siblings in the HEX Series. The HX1200.5 is the five-channel amplifier with a built-in subwoofer channel; the HX480.4 is the four-channel speaker amplifier with no subwoofer channel, and the HX1600.1D and HX1200.1D are dedicated monoblock subwoofer amplifiers that drive no full-range speakers at all.

Diamond Audio lists the HEX Series under car audio and publishes no IP rating, marine rating or conformal-coating claim for it. In an open cab or a side-by-side, mount it in a dry, protected location such as under a seat or inside a sealed enclosure.
