Hertz HCP1DK Compact Series Mono Amplifier

The Hertz HCP1DK is the high-power mono Class-D subwoofer amplifier in the Hertz Compact Power series, rated 740 W RMS at 4 ohm and 1240 W RMS at 2 ohm on a heat sink Hertz describes as incredibly minimised for the output it carries.

Fitment

The HCP1DK is a universal 12-volt amplifier, not a vehicle-specific part. It runs on any negative-ground system between 11 and 15 VDC, covering cars, trucks, SUVs and side-by-sides. The install constraints are space and current: the chassis measures 12.40 x 7.48 x 1.97 in, minimum load impedance is 2 ohm, the amplifier carries three 30 A on-board fuses, and maximum consumption is 45 A at 2 ohm and 14.4 VDC. Size the battery feed, ground and in-line fuse for that draw, and wire dual-voice-coil subwoofers so the final load lands on 2 or 4 ohm.

The K in the model number separates it from the standard HCP1D. Hertz does not publish an expansion of the letter, but the difference between the two is documented and concrete: the HCP1D is rated 320 W at 4 ohm on an 8.46 in chassis with two 25 A fuses, while this HCP1DK is rated 740 W at 4 ohm on a 12.40 in chassis with three 30 A fuses and a 45 A maximum draw. In short, the DK models are the higher-power members of the Compact Power family, and the same pattern holds between the four-channel HCP 4D and HCP 4DK.

Hertz publishes no IP or salt-fog rating for the HCP1DK, so mount it in a dry, protected location. The marine-rated model in the Compact Power family is the HCP 4M.
